 Novell Network Engineeer - Engineering TBD

Keep It Simple (KIS), an award-winning Novell Platinum and Microsoft Gold partner, is seeking network engineers to design, install, and troubleshoot SUSE/Novell/Microsoft-based LANs and WANs for a wide variety of clients and environments throughout Northern California.

Requirements: 2+ years SUSE Linux. Novell eDirectory or NetWare 6.x experience a plus.

You must have experience with and genuine enthusiasm for SUSE/Novell products. 

  • This position involves a substantial amount of customer contact; outstanding spoken and written English communication & interpersonal skills required.
  • You must have a car, automobile insurance, and valid California driver's license. 

Duties: Help design, implement, and troubleshoot enterprise and corporate computer networks as part of a support team. 

  • Some of the products you'll be working with include SLES 10, SLED 10, NetWare, OES2, GroupWise, ZENworks.
  • Extra points for any of these: SUSE/Novell Linux certification, SAN/NAS experience, VMware, Xen & XenSource, Citrix, MIS/DP production experience, self-starters, good sense of humor, SonicWALL, Cisco, Backup Exec, ArcServe, Backup Express, Syncsort, Commvault, Bakbone, NAV/SAV, McAfee, Trend Micro, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, SharePoint and/or Exchange 2003 or 2008.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Help Desk and System support for 450 users based in San Francisco, CA.
• Candidate will have excellent verbal communication skills and be able to remotely support end-users via phone and remote tools.
• Work is to be done on a schedule starting between 7:30 am and 8:00 am and ending between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support Windows OS
• Windows XP Pro
• Vista Business Edition
• Email- Outlook 2003 OWA Client access
• Blackberry Client-side configurations including synch
• Applications- Office 2003/2007 and customized apps.
• Have experience in Symantec Ghost and other imaging software
• Proven ability to build and maintain client system hardware (HP Desktops and Toshiba/ IBM Laptops

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:
• Bachelor's degree.
• Solid experience in project management and documentation.
• Proven ability to build to achieving maximized productivity.
• Able to adapt to new and different situations and technologies with minimal disturbance of routine activities.
• 1-5 years Engineering experience in a support MS Windows Client Systems.
• MCP on MS Windows XP required.
• Ability to effectively supervise others and efficiently manage a client installation.
• Outstanding communication skills with both internal and external customers, as well as a professional appearance.
• A desire to continually learn new technology and provide solutions to network problems.
• Non-technical requirements include reliable transportation to reach local clients and a willingness to fly to non-local customer sites when necessary. Support is often performed during the clients’ non-business hours; evening and weekend availability is occasionally required.
